Thank you!

I did some levels & some touchup in Photoshop. I still have the RAW files, and probably will go back to revisit them as I am still learning Photoshop.

Dooley, I'm assuming you used the 70-200mm f2.8 IS at 95mm... Why use flash and not a high ISO, (1600) ? The face looks slightly lighter than natural, and color tones look blown out. Otherwise it's pretty good action.

Actually, this was before my "L" days :-) -- I used a 28-135 f/3.5 - 5.6 lens. In retrospect, I probably should have just went with a bumped-up ISO, or at least mixed it up a bit... Some of the lighting was tough, though, and there was a LOT of "smoke" on stage.

Next show, I will be bringing my L's with me :-)

Ah... No problem... I also have those zoom lenses... The 28-135mm IS is a very nice lens, my copy is sharp and fun to use... It is just shy of being a great lens for low light events...

Hate to say it, but my most used and favorite lens; the Canon 24-70mm f2.8L, is also borderline OK, for low light shows, (without IS, it is tough to get by with it)... While the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, is just awesome...
I suppose for me, the next step is to get the Canon zoom 17-55mm f/2.8 IS.. It apparently is the lens to run with at low light shows... (Than there also is the ultimate 300mm f2.8 IS, or the awesome 200mm f2.0 IS...next on my wish list.)

Previously, I relied on the 50mm f/1.4 and the 85mm f/1.8 primes as the primary lenses for shows. Good luck with your low light scenarios.

From my first band shoot. I was there to record the opening of a new motorcycle store but the girls of Tantalum were so much more fun. I'm hoping to get more practice in the new year.
