Hey everyone,
Well, I live in the US and by this summer, I am looking to buy a Canon 30D with a 85mm f1.8 lense. I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a place for me to purchase my new equipment, that I can make monthly payments on. Thanks,

-Brandon

B&H has a "Bill Me Later" program you might want to look into. You could also think about making monthly purchases of store gift cards before the actual purchase and then using them to pay. Pretty much any arrangement that lets you pay over time is going to cost about what a standard credit card will, and affect your credit rating similarly.

www.calumetphoto.com (external link) has *Bill me later* and they also have the Calumet Credit Card which has a major advantage. Ever few months they offer *no payment and no interest for 1 year*. You apply online and if you qualify you know in seconds, then you wait (April) for the deal. They have 31 stores worldwide and are competitive with b&h. They also lease equipment via their leasing company.

Best buy credit card if you have credit, maybe circuit city, of course you need to have good credit.

Canon 350/xt ,50mm 1.8, Sigma 17-70mm, Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro, Sigma Super Flash Canon Backpack, Ebay tubes (awesome), Cheap tripod and a Sony DSC-S40 and a lot of hope and dreams of more gear.

And in 3 Months either a Canon 70-200 f/4 or a 70-300 IS still debating.

I did this. No interest if paid off withing 6 months. B&H is the way to go.

Thanks for the info. I may do this so I can purchase some much needed equipment for wedding season. :)

I've used the B&H bill me later plan before. 3 months no interest no payments, or 6 months no interest no payments if it's over 650. I've never paid interest though and I'd doubt I'd want to. Steer clear of Best Buy or Circuit CIty as their prices are not competative.

What is "Bill me Later?" I see it on many websites... do you have to pay it later on in one lu,p sum? Like, all at once?

Keep in mind that if you do something like this the interest usually accumulates at a very high rate and only if you have zero balance within the 6 months do you not get charged interest. If you charge $650 and pay $649 over 6 months you may end up with $90 in interest tacked on. And if you buy something else on the same deal 3 months down the road, it can get really complicated. (They will usually apply your payments to the most recent purchase).

I'm not commenting on B&H's program specifically, but these types of store credit in general.

At checkout instead of giving them a credit card number just click "Bill me later". Fill out a little info and click "order". You'll receive a statement each month.

"Bill me Later" is a credit line given by Chase. Just be sure to pay off your balance before the end of the three or six month period. Interest does accrue from date of purchase and will be charged to you if you don't pay it off.

And on some of these plans, if you miss a monthly payment, interest starts from day one. Be very careful of these plans.

I've gotten where I use Bill Me Later where its offered as it doesn't risk your regular credit card info to the Internet and BML is protected against fraud also. Just pay it off before interest is due.

if you have good credit go with circuit city, best buy or even wolf. they usually have longer plans (sometimes up to 18 months). they are usually more expensive though.

+1 for Bill Me Later through B&H

Their program is a no payment/no interest version for 3 or 6 months--which doesn't really mean no payments, since as other posters have said, you will accrue interest that will be yours to pay if you don't pay the balance in full by the end of the "free" period. But if you're disciplined enough to pay on it every month, it's a great way to go. And because it's a no payment plan, you needn't worry about the terms changing if you are a few days past their "due date" during the free period.

Just make SURE to pay it off a week before the free period ends. You do not want to end up with finance charges on the entire amount!
