Looking at purchasing one of these lenses. Do they require a "slim" filter or will a normal UV filter work just fine?

thanks!

normal uv filter works fine. A buddy of mine has a cheap and thick Tiffen UV filter and I don't see any vignetting at 10mm.

It only requires a polfilter in the slim version, as polfilters are thicker. And even then only at 10 - 12 mm.

Kind regards, Wim

With a uv a normal filter will be fine, however if you want a CP filter then you need the thin ones.

Normal UV filter works fine, but for cpl or gnd filter, look for slim/thin version.

I have heard both ways, perhaps confussion between UV and Pol filters.

I use Hoya SHMC Pro1's which are thin but I use them for the coating quality anyway.

you don't need a thin CP either. there is a bit or darkening of the corners but nothing you can't fix with ease

I bought a 77mm B+W UV filter for my 24-105, and I am very happy with it. It also fits on the 10-22 lens I just bought, so I will be purchasing another for it as well.

The slim and non slim versions are within cents of each other, I'd just get slim anyway.

In the Hoya line, it's a considerable difference.
