Hello,

Well after long debate I have decided to get a macro lens for my rebel XT. The problem is I can only at the moment afford to pay 500-700 dollars for one. Are there any great macro lenses for that much? Thank-you for your help

Suzanne

Definitely get the Canon 100mm macro lens. The IQ is superb, it has USM, and the focusing is internal.

Another vote for the Canon 100mm. This is an outstanding lens for the $$$.

I'd personally go for the Sigma 105 or Canon 100, I'm going to go for the Canon, internal focus really sells it for me... both with have equally great IQ

I recently purchased the Canon 100mm macro, and it's stunning. Highly recommended.

Sigma 150/2.8 macro. Comes with hood and tripod collar. Look at the charts at Photozone.de for the SIgma 150 (in the Nikon section,) versus any other macro they have tested.

In the March 2007 issue of Practical Photography, they tested eight macro lenses that were around 100mm:

Canon EF-S 60mm
Tamron 90mm
Sigma 105mm
Sigma 70mm
Olympus ED 50mm
Canon EF 100mm
Pentax 100mm
Nikon AF-S 105mm

The tester's choice was the Nikon and these three lenses got 5 out of 5 stars:
Tamron 90mm
Canon 100mm
Nikon 105mm
