If you thought the theatrical release of Borat was funny, please rent or by the DVD and check out the deleted scenes. My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. You've been warned.

I didn't think you guys across the pond would fine it as funny as us Yanks. Just like I never really thought Monty Python was all that funny. Now Mr. Bean on the other hand.... ;)

Although it's not necessary, living here and understanding of our warped culture certainly helps to fully appreciate the humour. <---- See? I said "humour". ;)

Borat... I can't believe we've descended to that level.

Are you referring to the humor or the way American culture is depicted in the movie?

If anything, it was a great social commentary. You can't deny some of the truth, the ugly face of America, that was revealed. And I appreciate the medium in which the message was delivered. ;)

The humor... I suppose my opinion is strongly biased for two reasons. 1. I'm in a completly different generational group than most of the posters on this forum. 2. I will admit that I have not seen the whole movie, only the television trailers.

I see.

Yes, sadly the days of Jerry Lewis drawing huge crowds at the box office are now ancient history. But maybe it wouldn't hurt to give Borat a go. You might find that you'll enjoy the "dispute" between Borat and Azamat. ;)

If you watch it as pure entertainment only, its very funny. If you do not, it can be offensive

I haven't seen it yet tho' as too busy but I have been a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen for several years. We have a documentary maker called Louis Thereux who you should check out. Not comedy as such but kinda the same genre of social commentary :D

If it's any consolation to those who thought it a little too satirical about the USA, the people of Kazakhstan were pissed about the movie too...even complaining to Bush about it as I recall.
..sheesh
