Oh yeah, I just noticed what Azamat had in the refrigerator. I wondered what happened to the bear.

If it's any consolation to those who thought it a little too satirical about the USA, the people of Kazakhstan were pissed about the movie too...even complaining to Bush about it as I recall.
..sheesh

Considering most Americans probably never knew Kazakhstan existed before Borat came out, they should be happy they got the exposure!

Only kidding of course. ;) But isn't it sad that your average American probably doesn't even know the names of half the countries in this world? They don't call us "dumb Americans" for nothing. :(

funny (i think) story:

i saw the movie in the theater next to my house and i live in a city with mostly older rich Jewish people. during the scene where he is staying with the jewish couple and he starts throwing the money, i just started cracking up and the lady behind me started RIPPING into me telling me how offensive that is and that it is not funny and that if i was jewish i would understand. i swear to god, some people just take life WAY to seriously. the fact that he IS Jewish is enough to show that it is just comedy. i did enjoy the fact that he speaks Hebrew during the entire movie and i was the only one in the theater to actually understand what he is saying.

....it's worse than that I'm afraid. I'd be willing to wager one of my prized "L" lenses that any random schmoe pulled out of the checkout line at Target/Walmart/Costco/whatever would not be able to pass the US naturalization test ....nevermind being able to find Kazakhstan, Kurdistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan or any other other ...stans on a map.

Now, if you'll pardon me, I have to go study for my citizenship exam.

Living in a younger, predominently Jewish area myself (I'd say 85-90% of kids at my public high school are Jewish?), children found this funny, while some adults found it disgusting to Jews, thinking Sacha should be ashamed of himself. I personally thought it was a hilarious movie, and if you take that seriously you need a reality check.

Very disturbing...but very funny. One of those strange funny movies like Napoleon Dynamite.

I felt like I needed a shower after Napoleon Dynamite in the theatre. After 10 mins of Borat, I felt like using the pressure washer...

Borat was funny... I have no idea how that relates anywhere close to Napoleon Dynamite.

All of the older generation of Jewish people probably laughed at Mel Brooks when he was in theaters, just a difference in the times.
