.Now if i only knew what chimping was?

= reviewing on the screen.
Since you mentioned you were using a large card but only had a few keepers at the end of the day, I wondered if you'd viewed and deleted a few hundred shots along the way.
With light use of the screen you should be getting 400-600 shots from a fully charged battery, easy.

Thanks to all for your reply's.Now if i only knew what chimping was?All the best.GORDO.

Chimping is one or a group huddling around a tiny LCD saying, "Ooh, ooh, look at this shot!"

It's also a derogatory term for those of us who aren't confident in our settings so we check exposure, focus, etc. after taking a shot. That's not really chimping, but it's become a common thing to hear.

You just used the word 'chimping' in a sentence without also including 'histogram'.
Deduct ten points.

I have been testing mine (on a 30D, not sure if they are the same or not), but they last a TON longer then my XT! I have been leaving my camera in the car where its cold and chimping the heck out of the pictures, and still last. Dont know how much longer then my XT, but I DO KNOW its a heck of alot longer...

Phew,

I thought we might have changed from ducks to chimps. I'm having a hard enough time finding a decent duck.

Are you saying that you only got 18 shots on your battery? Weird.

I get excellent battery life, only having to recharge every week or so, depending obviously on how many shots I take.
