Is it a must to go with ITs or is there a cheaper way, a software or likewise that can help you in making attractive web site that can acturally work for you?

IT = Information technologist
Same nice computer, internet geek guy that charges a fat 4 digit figure to make web site like that with varying levels of support there after.

Hm. That website isn't too difficult to make.

I could make something like that on my own in a few hours ...

A lot of photographers make their own websites, as far as I know.

Do you use any special software?
Any hints?
I guess the electronic billing and e-commers is the catch but off course may not be if the potential client actually contact photographer next.

Typically I just code it out in html, using Adobe GoLive for it's quick preview feature.

Typically a website consists of, for me, html editing, css and php. Not too difficult if you do a bit of reading on it and are ambitious.

I'm not writing my own due to some complexities that I wanted. However, if you have decent photo shop skills have a look at a program called Site Grinder. It is generated entirely from photoshop. You put a set keyword in each layer to signify what it represents, text, gallery, menu button,etc. and it generates all the necessary code.

I have a copy but haven't had the time to finish another project with it yet but it does do exactly what it says. They have alot of video tutorials to guide you through the process.

Looking at the site that you said you like, I can see you being able to do this in fairly short order using this.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Yeah, the coding for this site is not very difficult. However I think what some people underestimate is the graphics design aspect of it - simply choosing the (nearly perfect IMO on this site) typography can be tough at times.

Depending on what you need there are a few ways to get it. If you don't want to do anything - you could get a web designer to make a custom template and code it for you - or you could buy one online. You could make your own template in photoshop and have someone code it, or you could do both photoshop and coding yourself - it would just take a bit to learn how to design and code a site.

It depends on how much money you want to spend, how customized you want your site, and how much time your willing to invest figuring out web design and making your own site. But to answer your question - no you don't have to pay a (not an IT I don't think) web designer to custom make a template for you. There are programs out there that will do it quickly and for free or little money - but beware they won't look as nice as that site.
