Nah. The 300mm f4 is my prime long lens, can't part with it. The 1D is my prime choice of camera (although I have a D60 as well). As part of upgrading to the 1D Mark III, I'll be selling the 1D, but now is not the time.

I wouldn't go for a 1Ds Mark II, try the new 1D mark III instead. If I had the money, I'd use a 300mm f2.8 and 500mm f4 for motorsport photography (as well as my trusty 70-200) and a couple of TCs. Pity it all costs money lol!!! Till now, my 300mm f4 just has to do. At least I have a 1 series body that can keep up with the action!
Prices for a 1D Mark II (not the n version) are around 3 grand now 2nd hand Lawrie, well worth it, better than going for an original 1D imho. I now wish that I'd spent the extra grand gotten a 1D Mark II...
