I don't think I've got the custom signature watermark thing down yet. I want to use this signature instead of ready made fonts to watermark my images, but how do I go about getting rid of the transparent box that I created around it? If I reduce opacity then you won't see the signature anymore.

BTW, look how the watermarking program makes the image look jaggy. WTF?

It should look like this...

You may want to consider a custom brush in photoshop.

here is a video on how to make one ...http://www.layersmagazine.com …r-own-custom-brush-2.html (external link)

P.S. Thanks for the e-mail on the DVD.

LM, consider saving the watermark in GIF or PNG format - something that supports transparent pixels and make the white box around the signature transparent in your image editing program. The jaggies sound like a problem in how your program is re-saving the image. Make sure to find out how to have it save the image as original size and set it. I too recommend Photoshop, a brush is the easiest as Rich mentioned, but I'm missing my action set I created for my old watermark. I created one that would re-create all of the steps to make my watermark on a new layer and place the watermark in the center. I could then use the move tool and move it to my preferred corner.

This is what I do, Im sure there are easier/faster ways to do this but it work for me..
-Sign on a piece of paper
-Scan
-Send it through some filters, threshold being one of them
-When ready to place it on a photo I magic wand all the white
-Drag it onto the photo
-Adjust size and opacity and then save.

Here is an example

I use the 'Digital Watermark Branding' action by Russel Brown. (external link) I modified it to get my own watermark in there.
Created the watermark by signing my name a zillion times, then scanning it all, and picking the best letters from each autograph. Put together in PS, and drew a path around them, which I used in the action.
Looks like this:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO

Anoter, easier but sloppier, way would be to double click the layer with the autograph, and in the 'layer style' box that comes up, drag the right slider of 'this layer' to the left a bit. This will give some jagged edges probabely. If you alt-click the slider, you can soften the transition a bit by 'splitting' the slider...
Disadvantages: No drop shadow or whatever, so less visible on some backgrounds. Jagged edges. Not automated for portrait and landscape images.

How about setting the blend mode of this signature layer to 'multiply' which will make all the white bits transparent?

Seems the easiest way unless you want drop shadows, etc. in which case the custom brush is best.
