Taken during last years 4th of July weekend and our local Cruise In car show. This wonderful machine appeared out of no where and did several burn outs to please the assembled crowd on either side of Main Street and you guessed it 4th North. I was sitting out in the intersection, my usual spot to shoot the evening and talk about being in the right place at the right time…

I had my Cannon 1.4/50mm lens on the nose of my 5D. They are making posters of this shot for the 2007 event, I even got paid for the privilege of taking the photograph, a couple of times.

On the street?! Wow, was that a top fuel or alcohol? I'd imagine that thing blow eardrums. I never knew they would even allow such a vehicle on a street even if its closed for an event.

Yes. It is real they were towing it behind a team truck on a strap, pulled up into the intersection, dropped the strap, took two water hoses into Mouches 66 and made a burn out pit in the middle of the street. It was not on the list of 'things' or events, more or less an impromptu act of pure street defiance. The ground shook and my ears did ring, but I got the shots of the event. Even got the golden hour of sun on everything. If you did not know better, you would have thought you were at the drags, this fellows whole crew was on hand to wipe the tires and set him back in the 'box' for the second and third burn out of the evening. The chicks on the hoses were hot too ... but the smell of rubber, burning in ones nose is sweeter than most anything.
