Hi
i have just purchased one from eBay for my 10D

Would anyone know if i could download the Instructions for it?
or maybe some kind person could scan theirs and e-mail it to me.

i read you could store the battery compartment cover in it (or spare cf card) but i cannot see where.

Thanks in advance if you could help.

There's a bit of an indent/slot in the part that sticks up to fit into the camera battery compartment where you put it, IIRC.

The "On/Off" switch turns on and off the grip-mounted buttons; it doesn't affect the camera's power state. Just pull off the battrery compartment door, slide it into the space provided, slide the grip into the battery compartment and tighten the mounting screw. Make sure everything's on, and take some pictures. You can put a single battery in either side; if you want to use the AC adapter, one side has a "cut-out" for the cord to go through.
