So I'm tired of getting up on a stool to adjust my White Lightning units when they are up and out of the way. I really want to get the controls down to eye level on my stands. I fire them wirelessly and the wired controller would be taking me a step backwards.
Long shot - My question is, has anyone figured out the pinout for the RJ11 jack on the back of Alien Bee and White Lightning units? I'm hoping that the innards are just a few basic potentiometers and switches - boy would that be nice. Or even if I can purchase one of the 4 channel Paul Buff remotes and split them up. All I want is a dangling control for each light. Has anyone cracked one of them open?
Beyond surface mount components I'm quite handy with electronics but if we're talking a digital signal I'm screwed.
I'd appreciate any insight that can be given!
Thanks!
Edit: I'm not really interested in purchasing another wireless system even though the ones that Paul Buff sells are perfectly suited. They're quite expensive for something I cannot take to another manufacturer if I ever decide to go that way, and the interference disclaimers are a turn off.
