Hi, i'm planning upgrading my gear quite substantially by this summer, although i haven't quite decided what route i'm going to take yet, i'll save that conversation for another thread..... What i would like to know though is what would be a fair price to ask for my 350D/xt? A friend of the family may wish to buy it for their son as he has taken photography as part of his gcse's at school and is really enjoying it.

Anyway, i was thinking £250 was pretty fair, i would be selling the camera [Boxed with all contents as supplied new] with 'barely' used kit lens and two 1gig cards - the camera is about 8 months old with somewhere around 5 - 6000 shots taken in that time and in perfest condition - no marks bumps or anything.

So, would you say £250 was a fair price or am i under/over pricing it by way too much??

I sold my MINT condition silver XT body only with original box & accessories for $400.00 USD= 204.212 GBP. And that was one month ago. I thought it was a low price because I paid $850 for it (w/ 18-55) a year and a half ago. But the prices have drop so much on new ones, that used XTs are worth diddly squat. You can get a new XT (body only) for $485 now. I'm not sure what the market will bear over where you live, but thats the scenario here.

Remember that electronics across the pond are much more expensive than here in the grand ol' USofA. And taxed much more too.

According to XE.com 275 pounds = $536 USD (3/21/07). So I'd say your price is about right with the 2x1gb cards and kit lens. I don't know if you could ask more on the buy/sell forum or on feebay.uk but it seems like you're willing to make a sacrifice for a family friend.

What blows me away is that you can still get $300 for a used Digital Rebel 300D.

£250 is a good price for a used 350D especially when you know the history of it. You could get upwards of £300 on fleabay, the kit lens on its own goes for anywhere from £35-45.

$300? Over here there are buy-it-now's on fleabay for £300 and they go for around £250 (about $480-500) in auctions. Crazy prices considering the 300D has been effectively replaced twice over...

I was trying to get a 300D as a cheapo base for an IR conversion but gave up when they consistently went for £250. Good news for sellers though...

Well, it's the cheapest working Canon 6 MP DSLR, so it is still a lot better than a G7 or whatever...

Best regards,
Andy

For £250 your cam, kit lens and 2X1 gig cards is a bargain for a friend's son. For anyone else and I would ask for £300.

Yep I definitely agree. I only take my G5 out when there is a specific reason why I cannot take the 20D/350D and that's not often.

I didn't mean to criticise the 300D as I have never owned one and know very little about them but it just seems a bit daft that if you have £250 in your pocket you can get either the 300D or the 350D, they both go for around that amount (admittedly the 350D also goes for a bit higher but £250 is not rare). I suppose nobody has ever said that fleabay prices are not daft though...:lol:

I just recently sold mine for £350 but I did throw in some extra batteries, the Opteka grip, and a lowepro carrying case.

Thanks everybody, good to know... didn't want to feel like i was ripping them off but didn't exactly want to give it away either though - forgot, i also have an extra battery too, so if they don't take me up on the deal, then i shall definately look to try and get £300 plus for it....

Thanks again

My ebay auction for 350d, lens, 3 batteries, filters, 4GB card and a Canon BG-E3 grip only got to about £310 which was under reserve, so didn't sell.

I've seen second hand BG-E3's go on ebay for about £80.

Work that out!

Think I'll be selling it all separately.

While you might think it is a good idea and would fetch a higher price for some reason unbeknownst to me bundled items do not go for what they should. You are usually better off separating out the higher priced stuff from the bundle as you have found out.

Also, watch your start time as that dictates your end time. I don't know about the UK but here in the USA I never end something on a Friday or Saturday and during the day. And make sure you don't end the auction on a holiday. I got a great deal on a Barney cake pan that ended on Mother's Day. Paid about $8 less than normal going price. The pan is discontinued so the only place to get it is from feebay.

Actually, I normally try to do just that (auctions ending saturday/sunday evening) as I suspect that more users are online then. I got some great deals during the week...

Any further opinions on that one?

Best regards,
Andy
