I got a A550 and have no idea how to manual focus. I'm new to this camera and any other kind of camera, so I also am not that good with shutter speeds etc. When I got to change shutter speed it says 1" 1"3 1"6 etc. If someone could help me out I would be very much appreciated and it would make my photos 1000x better. Thanks

1", 1"3 mean 1 sec., 1.3 sec., and so on.

MF - when you're in MF mode, you use the left and right arrows of the rocker wheel to adjust focus based on what you see in the enlarged section of image in your VF. Or just let the camera AF.

A550 doesn't have MF. I use single point AF, 9 point puts me in TI (temporary insanity) mode...

How exactly do I get into manual focus mode? I always have it in manual mode for picture taking, how do I set it for manual focusing? And whats the rocker wheel? Is that the menu buttons or the zoom thing.

Well, since I know theres not Manual Focus, anyone want to explain to me how I would get set my shutter speed... I know how to do slow shutter speed like 1 sec, 1.3 sec etc, but I dont know how to do 1/1000 1/2000 or anything like those fast ones.

I've never even held this model camera before, but from all the specs I have read on it, it doesn't appear to have complete manual control over shutter speed and aperture. Not sure, but I would bet what's being called manual mode only gives you control over ISO, and maybe exposure and flash compensation.

Its not complete manual, but I thought I read somewhere that you can manually set fast shutter speed. I know you can set slow shutter, but not sure about fast shutter.

Doesn't seem to be available in that model. A pervasive "dumbing down" of P&S models perhaps?
