Out here in California, I've had a great opportunity to get some pictures of the smallest of our white geese. These Ross's Geese are beautiful white birds, and on rare occasion a "blue phase" Ross can be found. I've been fortunate to snap a few pics of them along with birds wearing different colored neck collars.

This one is sporting a leg band in addition to his yellow neck collar.

The white collars are almost impossible to spot in the air (for obvious reasons).

Here I was really fortunate to catch 2 collard birds flying together.

This is a very unusual "blue phase" Ross's goose.

You can see the neck and the leg band on this one.

Fantastic shots! Perfect exposure. Lovely birds. I have yet to see one, and you have a flock there.

Very nice series Mike. They're all nice but I'm partial to the shots with the un-banded birds.

The blue-phase Ross' goose is a real rarity. Great shots LD.

Excellent shots. Arent those tags a bit tight on them???

Add a bit more saturation to these shots to make them really pop.

No, they are not from Sac Refuge. They are from the central valley.

tomcio........The collars just look tight, but actually they area quite loose on the birds necks. Thanks for the tip.

Beautiful shots. I recently had the opportunity to see Snow Geese, and your inflight shots look identical to the snow geese, although I know that the Ross goose is smaller.
