I have an HP DV8000 Laptop and I just got and ran the spyder2express calibration, I used the version off the CD in my bedroom with the blinds closed. The results were not good and everything looked worse, using the 'switch between before and after' it was obvious my 'before' was much nicer, I'm not just talking about my pictures, but any pictures, or just the colors of my menus, etc.. there was this odd hue to everything, I couldn't put my finger on it. I repeated the test and got the same results. Then I downloaded a more recent version and re-did the test in a completely dark closet.. this time I got worse results, everything has a slight reddish hue. Is the problem the spyder2express? My laptop monitor?

Either you calibrated wrong, or you go so use to the settings that were there so that when you finally set them correctly, they look funny. It's kind of like staring at a green flag then looking at a while wall and seeing it there. Actually, when I worked at Bell Labs, we had these monitors which were very bright green. Very easy on the eye and very easy to read. Trouble was that for an hour or so after working with one, everything looked pink-ish.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Do a search for Spyder. There are a couple threads discussing the good, the bad and the ugly.

I struggled to make a decision but after a few days of hearing lots of people indicating problems with Spyder Express and Spyder2Pro I opted for a Monaco.

how can you calibrate wrong? it guides you through the whole process, adjust brightness, put the little thing on the screen where they tell you and wait. its not my eyes, the 'calibration' is garbage..
