OK brand new baseball hat (Giant logo) to the person that figures this one out. I'm either too stupid or have spent too many hours photographing ducks and have become a bird-brain.
All images that I post to by Pbase account up load as jpg's. Right click on any of them and click "save picture as" and they show as a jpg. So far so good.
When I post an images in the forum from Pbase, it has been brought to my attention that it you right click on it and choose "Save image as" it shows as a BMP. Darn big files for nothing.
I have checked my Pbase settings and cannot see a problem there. Have I missed something through a haze of feathers ?

Not a pBase problem

Assuming you are using IE, that typically happens when the "temporary internet files" cache used by IE gets "x" full.

Clear out your cache Tool/Internet Options/Delete Files and try again it should give you choices.

Yep, MT is probably right. That problem is caused by a full cache. And it's on their end (the person trying to save the image), not yours, Ian. They need to clear their cache.

Thanks for the tips guys. I tried that but guess what. Still shows as a BMP.
Cache is cleared. File name is also "untitled" even though a name has been assigned. Any ideas?

Right Click on the image in PBase, choose Properties, highlight the Address (in IE) or Location (in Mozilla & presumably Netscape) and right click again and choose Copy.

Up above, click IMG, right click and Paste, click IMG again to close:

IMAGE: http://image.pbase.com/u40/giant001/upload/26244955.woodpeck.jpg

Now right click on that image, Save Image As... viola! Jpeg. In both Mozilla and IE.

Where's my hat?
Size 8-1/2, please.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

OK, Ian - mouseover gives me a jpg, but "save-as" wants to do a bitmap. I don't understand it either, unless Pbase has some kind of setup to help protect your images by making them extremely big.

Hey!!! Where'd it go???? :)

You can't link to a PBase image that way. You only use the image #. For that image above, the URL would be http: //www.pbase.com/image/ (external link) 26244955.jpg (spaces added so it doesn't actually insert the image there), like this:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/image/26244955.jpg
