ROFL. When I came back to this in IE I got the same:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /u40/giant001/upload/26244955.woodpeck.jpg on this server.
---------------
Apache/2.0.45 (Unix) Server at image.pbase.com Port 80

So the CORRECT answer is:

Delete Internet Explorer and get a REAL browser (Mozilla). Because it works just fine in Mozilla.

What boneheads. There are ways to do this that would work on ANY browser, especially easy because they're using Apache.

So does this mean the end of linking images from PBase? Or just in Ian's gallery?

But...
If you right-click it and hit "save-as", you'll get a bitmap selection, but no jpg selection.

You can't link to a PBase image that way. You only use the image #. For that image above, the URL would be http: //www.pbase.com/image/ (external link) 26244955.jpg (spaces added so it doesn't actually insert the image there), like this:

Yep, that works fine.

PBase is wacky. Glad I run my own server.

So I guess Thomas gets the hat. :(

OK guys, I'm a bird brain. I knew that would happen if I spent too much time tryin to capture them. Bird brain and brain fart all at the same moment. It is a wonder I can still walk and chew gum.
What I was doing wrong was in how I copied the images from Pbase. I clicked on the image and copied from the address bar in IE and not from the properties of the image. Test image was done via Scottes input. Many thanks guys....I will now be able to sleep peacefully tonight.
Ya'll PM me your addresses and hats or socks, your choice will be in the mail post haste. Hats are one size fits all FlexFit. Socks are cycling socks by The Sock Guy. Both of course carry the Giant Bicycle logo.

Woohoo! I hope it's a nice hat! :D

I have my own domain that I link from too, but I still have a lot of older pictures on PBase that I go back to occasionally. I misunderstood the question originally. Glad I figured out what you guys were trying to do.

BTW, for the record, I use Mozilla's Firefox. I haven't touched IE in months...

Now the test shot shows "save picture as" jpg. Did it Scottes way and although there was a red X in the upper left corner, if I right click on the image and click "show image" it comes up. All info is there too.
The image Thomas posted up saves as a BMP on my laptop. Like Scottes says, maybe I should nuke IE

Ok, maybe I didn't misunderstand the original question. Are you trying to post the picture or save it from a web page? If you're using IE, and right-clicking->Save Image As only gives you BMP as an option, that should mean your cache is full. That's the only thing I've ever heard of causing that, anyway. Did you maybe set your cache limit to 0? I don't know what else the problem could be...

Thomas,
No problems posting an image. If you right click on the woodpecker image and select "save picture as" it saves as a BMP. Everyother image I've looked at saves as a jpg. Just wondering if it was me or Pbase that caused that.
My cache is empty and set fairly low. Nothing to loose sleep over but a nagging question.

Ah! Only one picture is doing it... Now I understand. I just booted up IE and checked this thread, and it's doing it to me, too. Very strange. I can only guess the picture must be corrupt on the PBase servers somehow. If you still have the original file, try deleting it from PBase and reupload it. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

Ian already has the solutions. Started with "Nuke..."

It has to be a Pbase/IE thing. Any image posted from Pbase into the forum and opened with IE does the same thing. I'm not going to loose sleep over it, in fact just woke up after a very sound and pleasant repose. However I do believe that I will look at other browsers. Thanks for the help guys...now where is that "nuke" button
