I just had my first engagement photoshoot over the weekend and it was quite an experience. I offered my services to a friend and in return I got my feet wet. Hopefully this can lead to big and better things as I dive into this type of photography.

Any comments/criticisms welcome

note: the colors can look a little oversaturated...I played around with Lightroom's vibrance slider too much.

This one is my fav from the set.

However, I would adjust the crop so that they aren't dead center. Scoot them over toward the right corner. And maybe take out the other couple in the background.

I forgot to say - for a 1st engagement shoot you captured them having fun well! They must have been comfortable with you as their photographer.

I threw in my two cents on a couple images on your flickr site. Hopefully I came across jokingly. If not I appologize I wasn't trying to be rude. The images really are beautiful. Its always the little things. (I should know!)

Thanks for all the kind comments. Many of the shots have been cropped for better framing but I did overlook some minor things (such as the half-hand and foot syndrome...thanks, rosesanplacebos). Good thing I shot all RAW because the possibilities are endless of where I can take those shots to.

Nice exposure....I like the ones you posted here..... all of them look very natural, and you processed them very well, keep it that way...

I think you did a great job, specially since you say it was your first engagement shoot. The exposure on all images looks to be spot on, the images show the couples closeness and the all seem to be perfectly in focus. I like them. Try to play with a few of them.. I am sure a bunch would look great in b&W

Bridge/Lightroom makes adjusting the exposure a breeze especially with the clipping indicators. I always try to slightly overexpose to the right just because noise plays so much of a factor especially when adjusting underexposure.

B&W shots are in the works right now.

Again to all, thanks for the comments...I'm learning a lot!!

dont try to pose them so much.. give them suggestions and let them be themselves.. oh and say really corny things in the uncomfortable silence. it helps them loosen up and no one knows they were laughing at your corny jokes

Nice! Great exposure and catches, they should be thrilled!

Funny; in my 5 or 6 E-Sessions, the couple INVARIABLY comes back looking for the ONE shot where they both looked at the camera. Out of like 400 - some of which I loved! Every time. The rest might see a 4x6 print, but the enlargement order is that one. And I usually only have about 5 of them (eyes looking sideways on 1 or 2 even). Weird. Maybe it's just my dumb bad luck so far.

Not something to go for; but good to remember about getting a few anyway.

IMO (and this is a personal thing), I'd clone out that background couple on the foggy beach ... and that spot too. They'll never know and it'll add to it. And, I wish it weren't so center-cropped. Hmm.

Eric: Thanks for your tip! Love hearing from the masters!

Actually I posed them about 10% of the time. I should have suggested other poses because I now notice that their positions look static. Just one of those things that I overlooked.

BTW, your pics are awesome! Very inspirational!

I'm not done PP the pics. All the things that look distracting will be photoshopped out. It's actually not a spot but a kite the couple in the background was flying.
