I am going to New York City, the first week of April. I was hoping to og to B&H, of course. But they, along with Adorama will be closed for Passover, the entire time I will be there.
Does anyone have any suggestions on camera shops to go to in the Big Apple, that will be open?

Alkit Camera. They are close to Adorama, downtown. Here's the link for their site... http://www.alkit.com/view.asp?gid=28 (external link)

Not sure how their pricing is, as compared to B&H and all the others, but they are a respectable store, in their own right.

Then, there's always 42nd St. Photo. on Broadway, and well, 42nd St.

I don't know if they're open or not but here's just a general list of places I visit which may or may not be open besides B&H and Adorama.

Calumet NYC
22 W. 22nd Street - Fun place to look around :D Nice show room

17th Street Photo Supply, Inc.
34 west 17th street, 3rd Floor - This place is the opposite of B&H, you can go and look and try things but it's REALLY small. The office is the front store and you can see the warehouse in the room next over. REALLY small and if you do decide to go. The front elevator of the building is the delivery, the actual elevator is down the corridor on the right. (Smaller then Adorama, this place only has ONE glass display :D)

J&R
Park Row, New York, N.Y. 10038 - They can be expensive for certain items. Rarely will you find a good deal compared to other online retailers. Fun place to look around, they have alot of electronics :D

Alkit
222 Park Avenue South at 18th Street - Small little retail store like 17th photo. But this place is mainly for their services. They may or may not have what you're looking for.

Whatever you may be searching for, one of these stores will have it. :D

On my spare time, I collect time.

Spring break and the shop closings are the same time. That's why I bought my lens this week on the net. Going to be closed for a whole week.

I think 17th St. will be closed as well, for the Jewish Holiday.

J&R is your best bet. And where better to be, than downtown.

J&R is a good bet, not as good as B&H, but hey, they still have cool initials. :)

They sell a lot of electronics there. You can be there for days and we'll have to get GPS to get you out. :)
