Let me lay out the story.

It just started to storm here this late evening. So the photog in me says,"Im gonna go take some shots of the lightning." Eager to do so (first chance since getting my XT) I get the 'frotto n camera and head out. I first sit on the porch but the storm is still west (porch faces east). So I head to the car port and sit on the tailgate of my truck.

Ok sounds good, I got one shot of lightning. Then out of nowhere it poors, wind blowing, the whole nine yards. My first thought is to cover the camera. Well by the time I do it is a sheet of rain so I book it to the porch. I turn around in time to see a bolt strike what looked to be the two story house down the street. So soakin wet I think, " I gotta get at least one good one."

So I head back onto the porch and scoot back to the corner where it is not wet. A shoot off a couple of 5-10 sec shots and nothing. By now Im deaf from all the thunder. I squeeze one more off and just about when I release the shutter cable a bolt strikes.

Below is the shot, it was so bright that with all the post processing I still couldnt get the bolt in view so I simply outlined it. The second shot is the "f**k this Im getting back in" when I accidently hit the shutter button.

That is the shot where I accidently hit the shutter button while running back inside. There was a lamp on in the living room.

Can you say "RUN".

Nice story indeed.

Photogs just have to be there.

Nice work. Not that I want any of it but nice shot.

Well the photographer in me regrets not getting the bolt of lightning. Here is the ONE shot that came out decent.
