Is upgrading from a D30 to 10D worth it?

I've had my D30 for about 3 years but now considering getting a 10D (increased Mbytes and faster focus I've read about). Can anyone in the same situation tell me what noticable difference they saw in the 10D? I'm just wonder if it's worth the cost.

I would say "definitelt yes". I was going to upgrade from the D60 to a 10D until the Mark II came along. The 7 point focus and improvements it gives you are worth it. Not to mention the MP increase.

10D Upgrade

Yes, its worth the upgrade. Remember the 10D, is the third in line of the series, so many of the issues with the 30 and the 60 were resolved. Yes, the Mark II is great, but's probably overkill unless your a Pro.

This is a great question because I am in exactly the same situation.

My D30 is just sooo PERFECT for me but for the price, the 10D is latest science. I have added some fantastic "L" lenses over the years by not up-grading to the 10D or D60 but I will be forever curious about these bodies.

But, I'm still holding out for the $1,500 replacement to the 10D because the D30 is still my "one love" after the G1. And, of course, the price I paid for the D30 requires me to shut up and be happy. As long as the D30 does what you need to do, check the bet to the highest bidder and follow their reviews.

One thing you may want to consider is the image 'quality' from the different models.
The D30 has a look like no other camera! I see D30 pics and tend to either love them or hate them...it would be unbeatable for certain applications i feel but rather pointless for others

As someone who has owned the D30, D60 and 10D, I would say that if you are still satisfied with the D30, hold on for six months and wait until the successor to the 10D is released. The 10D is approaching the end of its life cycle...you might as well upgrade at the beginning of the next camera's life cycle. Just one person's opinion...and by the way, it comes from a satisfied 10D user.

Used 10Ds are going to start trickling into the market. When the Mk II ships, it going to turn into a steady flow. When the replacement for the 10D comes out (likely later this year), it should turn into a flood. Prices will reflect the glut of cameras when they hit the used market.

I don't think I'd spend $1500 to upgrade now, but if you can pick up a good used one for somewhere around $1000 within the next few months, it's worth doing then.
