Anyone here have experience with Tamron

Specifically the Tamron 200-500mm zoom? I read about it on the Fred Miranda site, here- http://www.fredmiranda​.com …=248&sort=7&cat​=43&page=1

It sounds interesting, but I want to know if it will work with my EF 2x? I have a pair of Eagles at the far end of my meadow (800 yards) and not enough zoom to reach them. They sure are hard to sneak up on.

I just got it a week ago and haven't had a chance to put it to much use. It is a nice lens and well built. You certainly can't beat the price. It is handholdable with enough light and AF is quick and quiet but I haven't had a chance to put it on a tripod yet. I tried it with my sigma 1.4 and it is okay, though the AF doesn't really work at that point (way too much hunting). I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to use a 2X on it. Overall first impression is very favorable. (on the 30D)
