C-17 Globemaster demonstrates it's relitavely short runway landing capabilities. The plane goes into a full reverse thrust to stop the beast and the jets make what appears ot be a small typhoon of air. Pretty impressive stuff, and loud!

That's awesome! How close were you? I would think with all the talk about terrorism, they wouldn't let you very close at all.

I was standing about 30 feet from the runway. I don't think they were that worried about terrorists.

Nice shots, always wicked to see such effects.

Not every country like USA and UK have such tough aviation security.

A couple of weeks ago, went along to Auckland's military air bas.. I said I was a photographer to a wedding party in front, and they let me through. No ID, no signature. Went and parked next to apron, walked across the tarmac, boarded a P4 Orion.. Looked at the "top secret" electronics, took some photos, went and sat in the cockpit. (The groom works on the planes, and was known)... Doubt you could easily approach any other airport that easily, whether NZ or overseas. :)

awesome shots, it looks like a good portion of the wing is cut off (left side) from the angle on the first one! lol

PS- Wait, maybe it is? did you erase it?

PS#2- Warren, P3 Orion ;)
