Just made a quick-ish mockup for a gallery site I've been meaning to set up for ages, and wondering what y'all think of it. URL is http://bieberworks.net/photography (external link). Note that if you view in Internet Explorer, you'll be missing rollover effects. I know there's some CSS hack to make it work properly in IE, but I can't remember it at the moment, so for the time being, please view in Firefox, Opera, Safari, or some such. I'd love to hear comments on the design, layout, etc.

Thanks,
Robert Bieber

I like the Wildlife and Other rollovers. The people one, on my monitor, is too fuzzy or over-saturated or something, looks odd to me. I'm not liking the text font either; but that's always personal taste.

Other than that, looks nice and clean and typical for such arrangements - but all that white space around it makes my eyes hurt. :D

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll change out the people image. It's ISO 1600 in a dark auditorium, so noise is a little out of hand. As for the whitespace, do you think some kind of simple pattern would look alright?

I'm using IE, so no roll-over effects for me :(

Just some very basic observations:
- the "People" photo is a lot darker than the other 3
- I would switch the "WildLife" pic to the upper right corner so that the eye looks onto everything else and to balance the "Other" pic.

I like that you put a pic of yourself there, it's always nice to see the person behind the words and photos :)

As long as the pattern isn't too "busy"/noticable, it'd probably work fine.

Haven't had time to adress the other issues yet, but I think rollovers should now work in IE; for some reason, it demands that in CSS, you never do #id:hover{ but rather #id:hover {. If there's no space between hover and {, it doesn't work...
