does anyone know if the speed of the charger effects the battery or the life of the battery in the flash.

I use energizer 2500 mha batteries. There is a 15 minute, 1 hour and slow charger available.

thanks

Yes the speed of the charger affects the lifetime of batteries. If you constantky
charge your batteries in 15 minutes they becomes very hot and that will
shorten the lifetime of the batteries.

I have a two hours charger and 3 spares sets of the same batteries as yours.
So while charging I have allways oher sets available.

I suggest that you get at least a one hour charger or one that charges in 2 hours
and a set of spare batteries.

Good luck.

This question comes up once in a while, and previous threads have revealed that there is a certain amount of assumption and misinformation about what affects the life of NiMH batteries.

I use a 15-minute charger for the following reasons:
1) It has a cooling fan, so the batteries come out cooler than when I use a slower charger without said fan.
2) Time is money, and convenience has value, too. I often use multiple flash units and carry spare batteries. It would take me a week to charge them all with an overnight charger.
3) The batteries are cheap enough that even if I shorten their lives a little, the convenience of fast charging is worth the cost.

I use the slow charger with Energizer 2500mah batteries (green and silver). Last time I shot a wedding I only used two of the three sets I purchased. It's worth it to use the slower charger (I have two of them) and prepare in advance.

thanks all,
great comments.

I have several sets of batteries. My 580 is is taking longer and longer to be ready to fire and i think i may havea few bad ones in the bunch. Is there a way to test test these energizer rechargables?
