Hi,

I want to set up a small studio to shoot mostly pictures of my own child and family members, maybe others on a select basis.

I have a 30D and 420EX flash, what else do I need to buy (please be specific)? I have been shooting subjects mostly outside for about 5 years now. I will be using a converted attic space (no windows), using mostly muslin backdrops. I want to be thrifty but I also want to get the most bang for my buck. I often shop on Ebay and have found www.amavona.com (external link) to have great products at a steal of a price. If possible I would like to purchase lighting there as well.

I prefer to take a shot at strobe lighting as to continuous. I need a "what to buy" list. All the needs to make this a workable studio.

Is pocketwizard the same thing as this:

The Canon LC-5 Wireless Controller Set is an extended range Infrared strobe-type wireless control system designed for professional and advanced amateur users of EOS cameras with N3 remote control sockets (EOS-1Ds Mark II, 1Ds, 1D Mark II, 1D, 20D, 10D, D60, D30, D2000, 1V HS, 1V, and EOS 3). This remote system is very handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure.

OR is it a total different product all together? The more I read the more confused I get.

Thanks for your time. Lisa

The LC-5 is a remote Shutter button not a Flash trigger.

You are going to want Pockets wizards or a similar type radio trigger for your flashes ifyou want to go wireless with Studio strobes.
