Does the S3 have any updated firmware? Also... would it be possible... to update firmware to make the zoom in/out slider thing the manual focus control. I would love that because zoom doesnt work while manual focusing anyways, and the way manual focus is now is such a inconvience. My hand cramps, I cant hold the camera right, I cant focus in time and its just hell.

Personally, I think the manual focus is quite worthless on the S3/S2. I guess anything is possible, but the modifications you mentioned sure don't seem practical to me. Just my opinion though.

Well I would love a void-free way of doing it. I hate using the arrow buttons as the focus. And yes, the MF is somewhatuseless, but it is handy at certain times, and I would love to make it easier.

The only firmware that I know of for the S3 is a raw hack which you can probably find mention of in this forum. I don't mind the MF but as mentioned it has minimal functionality.

Raw gives much greater control over image manipulation in post processing.

Manual focus is useful if you've a lot of clutter around the subject and a/f won't lock onto the correct item. You can set the focus on the subject, then go back to a/f and it'll lock.
