ok, im fairly new to photography (intrested for about 2 years) and very new to this website.

however, im wanting to know which flash units go with a canon 400d / rebel XTi.

if anyone could help i would really appriciate it.

Wait for the new Canon rebate rounds (april) before buying a Canon flash. Might save you some money.

Up in the EOS Flash sticky thread, you'll find this thread that gives a brief outline of your choices, and this website (external link), that lists specs and features for various models.

Also note the 580EX II listed above is a new model that's not yet available. The original 580EX is a great unit, but priced on the high side.

But why buy the Canon flashes. Sigma will offer you almost all the feature at 1/3rd price.
If you shoot manual then a Vivtar 285HV (new) will fit nicely.
