I believe I've gotten all my questions answered except one. How well does the G7 do Macro. I notice it has a very close minimum focus distance, but how are its Macro capabilities? Can it do 1:1 or can it get fairly close to that?

I don't know about the technical specs, but it can get very close - much closer than my old G3. The manual says it can focus as close as 1 cm (or 0.39 inches). I don't know if that's quite 1:1, but it will do for me.

I've only had the camera a short while but the macro is one thing I think it does quite
well, here is a quick shot of a dime, might have been able to get closer but have to
leave shortly;

full shot taken;

I also took a video here in Bulgaria today of our machine running, very very clear
and smooth video too!

Is that the rare 1992 "D" Dime? I will give you Big money for that. LOL

I think the G7 will produce nice macro shots. I wonder how it will do with the lens adapter and a macro lens?
