My budget is $800 tops - I will be using this lens to shoot little league baseball, high school football and basketball.

I've been told that I can get a used Canon 70-200 2.8 for around $750 - and I can get the Sigma for $775 new.

Can someone shed some light on the subject?

Thanks in advance

If you can get a used 70-200/2.8 for $750, I'd say go for it.

The Sigma used would be less.

I had the Sigma and really liked it. I shot football, soccer and landscape with it and it performed super well. For night football I mostly used the 200/2.8 as its focus is much faster.

I have the Canon zoom now and it's a good lens but I don't mind if I have to go back to the Sigma again.

Yeah, $750 for the 2.8 is a great deal. If you can snatch that and if it is in good condition, go for it. Otherwise go for the sigma.

Thanks guys - I know for a fact that I can get the Sigma for $775 - My Canon rep ( I own a camera store) told me that he has a guys in the New York area that has used lenses in great condition and that a 70 - 200 2.8 would go for about $750 - (let's see) I'm also going to check what the employee price is (as a dealer you can purchase some merchandise for your own use at employee price)

Thanks again.
