The importer has a problem with time zones. It adds the (computer)GMT offset to the image time when making directories for each day so (for me) any images taken after 1400 hrs get put in the following days directory. The EXIF date and time is unaffected.

Adobe support have so far ignored my support request on this.

So basically it is adding 9 hours to the time that the images were actually taken and creating a folder with that info?

Why on earth would it do that, as where ever in the world you take the pics, you would always wnat them in a folder based on the image info?? :(

I haven't noticed this. Maybe I need to do some experimenting.

Quick question (aren't they all )

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Lightroom license allows you to install the software on (say) a desktop PC AND a laptop.

Can anyone verify this?

TJ

No problem there. I had an activation problem (I thought) when installing lightroom on my laptop. It turned out to be an error on my part, but Adobe confirmed that they had no problem with me installing on both my desktop and laptop.

From what I've heard, Adobe very rarely responds directly to bug fix/feature requests (if that's how you submitted your request.)

Representatives say they read them all, but because of the sheer volume, they are unable to respond personally.

So you may well have made them aware of the problem so they can address the issue in a future update.

Not to my knowledge - I think it just relates to Lr. :D

I didn't get through the whole thread to see if it was verified already, but I can. I called them up to make sure it was legal before I did it, and they said I can. And I did. I was "grandfathered" in via RSP but I do have a fully registered and legal copy of LR on both my laptop and my desktop.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I noticed this as well. If I take a picture before 3:01AM Eastern Time, Lightroom puts it in the previous day's folder because it assumes I'm in California where the programmers are...but I'm on the East Coast. It seems to ignore actual EXIF for that.

That is just bizarre, isn't it? Why would you EVER want it to work that way. When I travel and change time zones, I try to reset the camera's clock too... that way you know EXACTLY what time to go back if you ever wish to recreate a shot.

Yeah it's one of those very retarded things. Very egocentric of the programmers. Or something... as if no one lives outside the Pacific Time Zone.

I also think it's rather lame that LR doesn't automatically generate and download into new folders if you have more than one different day of shooting. I set mine up as YYYY-MM-DD and download that day's shoot in to that day's folder. But if I have multiple shoots/days on one card, they all get lumped into the first folder if I don't select the individual images. It would be nice if it actually checks and heeds the EXIF and creates new folders for the new dates, even if it's the same event or shoot. That way I can differentiate Day 1 of a shoot from Day 2 of a shoot. I can always lump them together if I want them together, and that's easier than selecting them from the card separately for download.

Mine does put in different folders for different days automatically when I have several days on one card... can't remember off hand right now how to do that.

Hmmm. I dunno then. I guess mine's configured wrong. I haven't had a dual shoot lately to mess with it though.

Yes, that's fairly standard with Adobe products.
