I'm fairly new to concert photography (I've gotten lucky in the past with a few shots) and I have a show this weekend to shoot, so I'm looking for some tips.
My equipment: Canon 30D & 24-70mm f/2.8L
I did some digging around the site here and skimmed a few websites (Boudist
) for tips/tricks too.
These seem to be the general tips and tricks for concerts that I've come across:
Fastest ISO (1600 or 800) - higher=granier but may be needed if light is really bad
SHUTTER
1/200 or 1/250 - sometimes down 1/100
APERTURE
f/2.8 - low as possible
METERING
Spot mode if available or partial metering
MODE
set camera to shutter priority or aperture priority (full manual is preferred)
Set camera to Tungsten for WB.
Alternatively, use K and set color temp to 2800 to 3400K depending on taste and front light color. (use 2800 when dominent 'warm' and 3400 when dominant 'cool' lighting is used.)
Is there anything else I should know? If you have any other tips/tricks for me, I'm all ears! Thanks!
