Here are some from Presley's Country Jubilee. The Presley's are one of the founding families of Branson's live music scene, they are celebrating their 40th year this year. Extremely talented family with every body excelling at multiple instruments. Although Branson is diversifying in terms of the types of shows , Presley's is representive of the original family shows, with a blend of country music and comedy, that got everything started. Still one of the most popular shows in town.

Lighting was very good here although there were enough people that I really couldn't move around much without being a nuisance. I used my 20d with a combination of the 17-55 2.8 & 70-200 2.8.

Complete album can be found here:

2 and 6 are simple but well-executed shots (2 might use a bit more contrast). composition is spot-on, and the presentation is very clear. good job. the colors are nice and vibrant throughout the set, and nice wide shot @ the end.

looking @ #2 again on my home monitor, it looks fine. probably my uncalibrated monitor + fluorescent light mix at work.

I really like all of these shots... They are the classic Branson show shots...and are nice and easy on the eyes...with good colors and composition...Obviously...the atmosphere is different than a heavy metal band...Great set... (very professional,)...keepers for the portfolio...you gotta let them see these pics...

when I was there, many theaters had these family shows going on through out the season... I did notice more independent country artist opening theaters up as well though... and that was in the 90's...So I can only imagine how much more of a variety you have on the strip...

(Back in the 90's, I ran into John Davidson, the first night in town for both him and me... We both arrived from Southern California... He by boat, by way of the Gulf of Mexico, and I by auto... It was a pleasant conversation while in line at the supermarket.)

Great pictures! It has been ages since I have been to the Presley's which is kind of sad only living 45 minutes away. I only get to a couple shows a year. The last one I saw was Manheim Steamroller at the Grand Palace.

Thanks for re-checking, sometimes I just have a tough time getting contrast right in PP, especially if I've been staring at this monitor all day. :D Thx for the comments.

Not seeing the Presleys' when in Branson is kind of like not getting a Philly cheese steak when in Philadelphia. ;)

Things have definately changed since the 90's. Beyond the country "stars" that have set up shop here, there's been a big effort to include shows that aren't country - Broadway types, Cirque types, Comedy, magic, tributes, and even a few rock shows. We are up to 100+ shows in town now.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I probably hadn't seen it since the mid 90's prior to this. I've been to more shows in the last 6 months than I'd seen in the last 10 years. :D Although my musical tastes lean very, very strongly towards rock, I gotta say I've been very impressed by the level of talent I've seen at these shows. These people are all first rate entertainers. Thanks for the comments.

Some nice shots.
Some appear a bit 'noise ninja-ed', but that might as well be make-up; looks like a very 'produced' show.
Pity about the background they used on stage: the (whiteish) 'waved plates' (no idea what they are called in english ) are distracting in some shots.
On a side note: I don't think you selected the best shoys to post here... Some in the gallery are better.

Thanks Dwight. I gotta give you some credit here. Bracketing saved a good portion of my shots at this one. 2nd show I've shot using bracketing. Still wish I had a faster shutter speed and a bigger buffer (but then don't we all :D). Sounds like I need the new 1D3. :)

The noise ninja'd look is probably both. I NN'd (very mildly in most cases) out of habit, but they did have on makeup too. Still probably could have left out that bit of PP. The stage was very shallow with a lot of people on it at most times, very tough to isolate people. Thanks for your comments.
