Great news for me! I had a call yesterday (confirmed by a follow up e-mail) that the 100 f2 I ordered on-line had arrived at the retailer from Canon Canada and that it would be shipped out immediately. I think it may arrive on Thursday.

I posted on another thread (100 f2 vs. 85 f1.8 ) why I chose to go with the 100 f2 and about my struggle to get one. Everyone seemed to want to sell me the 100 f2.8 macro; a fine lens to be sure but not what I wanted. I only found one store that had the 100 f2 in stock and to be honest they didn't seem to interested in making a sale. The staff did spend a lot of time discussing whether to have bagels for lunch but didn't seem to have much time for a customer with a few hundred dollars to spend.

I will get some shots posted as soon as possible.

Ken

Congrats, Ken!

Please show us some "duck shots" when you get it! :)

Kind regards, Wim

I will be interested to hear what you have to say about this! Congratulations!

I know what you're saying, most everyone who has one of the two has the 2.8 macro.

This is one of my prospective lenses as a new XT owner. For now, I am content to practice with my first non kit lens that I just got today- the 50/1.8

Ronald, I am trying to be optimistic about this. Here's hoping that a 100 f2 shows up!

I'll post an update as soon as the "package" arrives.

Hope you get the right lens too :)

Total newbie here (and newbie to the SLR world also), I have this lens too, but haven't had the chance to use it. Very nice, not too long and seems well built. This was my first lens of choice (besides the one that came with the camera) which does not count.

I wish more people here had the 100 f/2 (need more posts) (pics. and specs. for the pics. that were taken). I have a cropped camera and bought this telephoto specifically for (but not limited to) high school sports pics.

Good luck with your lens and hope it works out great for you!!!

Its here! I am now the proud owner of a EF 100mm f2 lens. Its a beauty. I don't have my gear with me here at work and I am not going to be home until late this evening so I can't use it yet:(.

I will post some photos tomorrow. I may go looking for ducks at lunch time on Friday.

Cooked ducks don't count.
