Fantastic work there, congrats, work to be proud of.
Just one thing, how did you convert it to an HDR image in Photomatix PRO? Don't you need more than one exposure to generate HDR in Photomatix?

You can generate different exposures from one image using a RAW file in any raw converter. I am assuming this is what she has done.

An HDR photo is a High Dynamic Range photograph that takes 2 or more photographs at different exposure levels and puts them together, essentially getting rid of over and under exposed areas on the picture.

It's not really possible to do HDR with one image...not a true HDR anyways and you'll still have areas that are either blown out or under exposed if you try and do it with one image. Plus programs like CS2 will tell you that there's not enough dynamic range in the images, even if you take a RAW file and save one as +1, one as 0 and one as -1 in regards to correct exposure.

Question:

Ive been looking for portable power, and dont like the AB version since you have to ground it. How do you like your Tronix Explorer 1200Ws Battery?

Do you have to ground yours? Where did you buy it from and how much did you pay?

I also didn't get the AB version due to the grounding issue. The Tronix is rock solid though, I love mine. It holds up well and is built tougher than a brick outhouse. It is a bit heavy, but I am a 5'5 125lb female, if I can manage it anyone can ;) I bought it from one of the members here on the forum (sboerup) for $280 shipped.

I just called alien bees and just wanted to ask a few questions. It seems like I would get more flashes and faster recycling time from an V150 than the Tronix unit. Did your unit come with a home and car charger?

Price makes the Tronix temping.

Great job. Looks like he is a singer with his picture on his new album. I like that 'and you're done' part. Whaaaaat!

i love them. superb. can you tell me which pro version did you use.
was it v2.3.3?

was this one raw image simply coverted by adjusting the exposure, or multiple bracketed images?
and when using photomatrix did you change any of the settings once clicking tone mapping or simply leave it as default.

thanks alot :D

Yep, mine came with a home and car charger. As for flashes, mine lasts VERY well and the recycle time is quite decent as well. I have yet to experience any problems. I am use if you are firing off shots as fast as you camera can go, yes you will probably run into recycle time problems, especially as the battery's power level reaches a low point, but generally in normal day to day shooting I have experienced no such problems with it.

I have v2.2.4, and technically it is not a 'true' HDR, I just use that term because it is best to describe the 'look'. What it actually is is a tone mapped 16-bit .tiff file. And yes I do tweak the tone map settings quite a bit to get the look I want.

Thanks! It's a fun process, I don't do true HDR (although I just use the HDR title since it best describes the 'look'). I use PhotoMatix PRO in conjunction with a ton of Photoshopping to achieve these effects.
