If it takes a male PC, then the Sunpak comes with a short cord that will work. The cord is a male sub mini plug for the flash end, and the other end is a male PC connector.

There are inexpensive hotshoe to PC adapters for flash units that have a short cord that ends in a male PC connector. Those would work.

But, you seem a little unsure about the connection on the Bowen unit ("I think").

Humans on the forum will be able to help in a definitive manner if you are sure about the connection on the Bowen radio slave.

You could also post an image of the Bowen radio slave receiver.

Enjoy! Lon

Well I see a female PC socket, so you should be set with either the new Vivitar 285HV or the Sunpak 383 (which I think is a better choice*).

Both the Sunpak 383 and the Vivitar 285HV come with a short cord that has a male PC connection for the non flash end that will plug into that female PC connector on the device you show in you pic.

Note there have been a lot of reports on other forums that the new Vivitar 285HV units recently shipped are missing the cord due to a batch packing error.

I see another port (labeled camera/ flash unit) on the device, possibly a 1/8 inch mini plug (3.5mm), but I could be very incorrect as this is just a reasonable guess. Possibly this also can be used as an attachment point. But, since you will be getting cords with the flash units you are going to use, this may be of no importance.

* Note:

  • The 383 has more manual control
  • The manual control on the 383 is easier to get at (on back of flash not front).
  • The 383 is a bit more compact
  • The 383 has a more available sync connector (sub mini plug)
  • The 383 head rotates making it easy to use "auto" mode with umbrellas.
  • The 285HV does have a zoom head, but for umbrella use, this is not a very compelling feature.

Enjoy! Lon
