Small product shots.
You light them from the outside, with ambient room lighting, window light, cheap tungsten or fluorescent, or flash units. Many possibilities.
Designed to produce very even lighting with no shadows or hot spots.
Not hard to use.

If you buy one, get the big one. Or you can make one yourself with a bit of plastic pipe and white nylon.

A light tent can be any size you want. Their size only limits the size of what you can fit in them and get a reasonable distance from the camera. The main advantage to these store-bought units is they fold up quickly for storage and transport.

If you like shooting little stuff, it would be a useful accessory. If you don't shoot much little stuff, it'll sit around and collect dust.

A 30" tent would work fine for things like pottery, small flower arrangements, decorative crystal, just about anything you want to shoot.

Do a forum search for "light tent" and you'll get threads galore showing home-made units and the stuff people shoot with them. Here's 30 pages or so to keep you busy: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=281524
