Yep. As long as you got the Canon CD's which are included with the camera. You wont need CD's if DDP is already installed tho.

Warning tho calicocat:

DDP seems buggy on Vista 64. Won't display tool palette docked.

First look:

The crop tool is much better. You can set crop ratios by right-click. The Edit window image becomes cropped and on the thumbnail a frame indicates the crop.

The tool palette can be accessed from the thumbnail page, thus all edits can be done from there. This could make for a fast workflow in doing simple adjustments to a large batch.

Nice real-time before/after comparison.

Expanded RAW histogram. (Extra sections at right and left for the greater DR of the Mark III?) Upper and lower margins of the RAW histo/curve can now be adjusted like the RGB histo.

Loads faster.

Thanks Elie. I'm liking DPP more and more. Nothing else compares for skin tone rendition. This one appears even better.

Yup, and still no "true" linear either. (or at least more controllable) :( They could at least pull down the highlights so it doesn't blow out the whites as much. (to anyone who may read this and not know what I'm talking about, check out white detail in LR compared to DPP)

A great function is that now we can use the tool palette in the main window, so we can select multiple pics in the main window and apply global changes.
However I'm not able to have the tool palette docked in the main window. It is always floating. I have set the correct values in the preferences though.
Any idea ?

[Rant]
If Canon wants to be taken seriously with this software, then a straightening function is a must.

The straightening tool is what compelled me to buy RSP last year. It took a step out of my workflow. There's plenty to like about DPP, but I've hardly used it since acquiring RSP for that reason.

Until Canon pulls their head out of their ... and includes the basic tools that photographers need, I'll stick with Lightroom.

Yeah, I saw the feature list awhile back for 3.0 and that's what complelled me to pony up for Lightroom... DPP's main shortfalls for me

1) Highlight recovery
2) Straightening
3) Red Eye tool? (been awhile since I've looked for it there)
4) Not seeing edits such as cropping and cloning in other views (though they may have addressed the cropping view in this release)

I still hope they keep improving it... and I keep it around for picture styles, and for comparison from time to time. But I'm glad they haven't gone the way of some other camera makers and charge for it.
