Hanimex flash compatible?

Hi folks, I have just picked up an old Hanimex flash which belonged to my grandfather. It seems to work fine and wondered if this will be compatible with my 350D...?
I know I will lose the focus assist, and have to use both camera and flash manually but this doesn't really bother me so much when I consider the following...!

I bought my 350D from Jessops, and at the time they offered a free Jessops flash gun with SLR purchases. I recieved the gun today and have tested it but to be honest I feel I will be much better off selling it, as they seem to get about £50 on ebay, and with that money I can put toward something to replace my kit lens....
Anyway, if I can effectively use the Hanimex with my 350 and produce reasonable shots I think I would rather go ahead with the sale. If not, then I may consider keeping the 'free' Jessops flash!

Assuming compatability, Will I lose any other ability other than convieniance with a fully maual flash? Any help appreciated!

ok I found out that my flash is not compatible but I am sure a small mod could sort that out...

So assuming it were to fully work with my 350, what I would like to know is what sort of settings I should put the camera in to correctly expose my images?

The flash helps with Apature and ISO, by using a small 'slide rule' on the rear but how about shutter speed? Does this mechanical scale still mean anything in the digital age?

Hi Curtis, the trigger voltage isn't a problem as of five minutes ago

Just tested the hotshoe and I have about 5.8V across the terminals Tried on my Nikon 8700 and it works although haven't dared put it on my new 350D yet!
