Had a trip out to Bewl Water in Kent yesterday, it was very misty and I got bored of taking photos of the reservoir, so I thought "I'll take a picture of whats behind me". Here it is (with a crop), maybe I need a bit of noise reduction? or do you think it works? (A bit of detail lost with compression, I think)

these conditions make for a foggy picture, imo. i tend not to shoot into fog. the picture loses much detail. honestly, this picture is boring and dull.

When I took the shot, I expected a foggy picture, why?, urrrr, it was foggy. Having said that, I attempted to make the most of it and not just turn around and go home.

Why do you think it's boring and dull? Next time I will try a different approach, can you suggest anything? maybe its the sepia tone you dont like, or the grain/noise, or composition... idk.

Me personally, I like it. It's a peaceful scene and I don't usually do sepia, but it's all for fun.

Anymore "in depth" CC?

ya, i get what you are saying. but there doesn't seem to be a main subject here. and things are getting lost in the fog. the sepia effect you chose is monotonish and nothing really 'stands out'.

maybe someone else may chime in a give a more in depth cc.

the effect itself looks pretty good, and gives the photos a very aged 1920's look about them, very Harold Lloyd era type quality :)

You could imagine them being taken by someone on there very first holiday with a camera from that era.

Don't think you can break the images down into a specific point of interest, you have to take them as a whole with the effect applied

If any of the above makes sense, i'd be happy for someone to explain to me :D
