Ok, I just did a major comp upgrade. I did the backup for LR and saved it on my second drive. All my photos are also on teh second drive and untouched. I have now re-installed LR on my primary drive, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to restore the settings from the backup file. Anyone know how to do this?

Chris

You should be able to do the following.

1. Move the Database back to where you want it on your first drive OR Leave it where it is located.
2. Go to Edit > Preferences or Options.
3. Tell LR where to find your Database.
4. Restart Lightroom.

Or you can navigate to where your Lightroom Database file is .lrdb and double click on the .lrdb file and LR will open with that database.

I am in this same circumstance.

However, all my backup files are .lrcat and not .lrdb - and LR will not recognize them.

I have a sinking feeling I am in big trouble???

Edit: I've figured out that the first LR update changed my database to .lrcat and made it recognizable to LR. My images are nicely back in place within LR.
