I bought a Huey monitor calibrator for my laptop.
I am posting a before and after of the calibration.
After I calibrated my monitor, it turned my grey scale into maroon!
I pulled up one of those grey scale calibration checkers, and all of the squares were maroon.
When I switch back to the before calibration, they look grey, like they are supposed to.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure what you may be seeing, but here is the checker that I pulled up.
On the grey scale, the left box is black. The three boxes to the right of it are shades of maroon on my calibrated monitor.

I don't get it!
The first step of calibration, is to place the little Huey "thingy" in its cradle and press next to measure the light in the room it says. After I do this, I pulled the grey scale back up and it looks grey.
The next step is to place the Huey on the screen, and press next. It goes through its calibration of all the colors, and then turns my grey scale maroon!

I haven't seen the directions you speak of. The first step in calibrating for me is to suction the Huey onto the Powerbook screen. I adjusts to room light at the end.

That is what it says to do first on mine. As soon as I pull up the program and hit start.
I thought maybe I did not have the latest version of the software, so I went to the site and downloaded it. Thinking that may be the problem.
Not so, It is still turning my greys into maroons!

Anyone else have any ideas before I take this thing back where I got it?

I have never had this problem with my Huey. What did you have it set at for color setting under Huey preferences? When I do warm low contrast they have a slight maroon tint.

Ok, now see, ya'll are getting technical on me.......:D

R Metzel, I tried all of the settings. There were a couple that came close, but they were still off. I think cool - high contrast came the closest.

Tsmith, I will have to see if I can find out where that is, and check it.

I have since gone back to Adobe Gamma calibration, and everything looks good.

When I first used the Huey on my laptop I had the same results. There was a red tint to everything it just didn't look right. I then recalibrted in a dark room, so that the wall colors and lighting temp didn't throw off the calibration. After I did this the screen looked much better. You also need to make sure that you don't have any other monitor adjustment programs running.

On my monitor, they look gray.

Mine, too. And the smooth patch in your 2nd attachment reads 187, 187, 187 in PS.

You also need to make sure that you don't have any other monitor adjustment programs running.

Did you turn off Adobe Gamma?

Not 100% sure on the Huey, but I think, you should disable Adobe Gamma. (external link)

TMc is right. You should try to calibrate in a dark room and, as several have said, make sure you don't have any other monitor adjustment programs running.

Ok, I went to the startup file, and adobe gamma was not in there. I was going to remove it.

I saw the Huey start up in there, and removed it just too see what happens.

There is definately another program calibrating my monitor, because when I rebooted after removing the huey from the start menu, my settings went back to normal. Normal being greys instead of maroons.
