Any CC highly appreciated on this shot. It's only my 2nd week having the AB's.

I really like it. I have nothing yet for lighting. I'm about to buy a 580 EXII for my 30D. Can you let me know what you bought (AB's) and all the other accessories you bought to get them working with your camera. Thanks

What did you use in this shot? And did you power all the lights with the Vagabond?

*cool photo by the way!

How long did it take you to set everything up? Takes me a lil time to set mine up about 15 - 20 minutes. Image looks pretty cool!

yeah Rhino.. same as you.. About 15-20...

I have that AB stand bag that holds all tehstands and the lgiht cases...

call this risky.. but I pre-setup my lights now.. I strap the lights to the (then) folded stand and place them in my back seat ready to go. I secure them with my 2 back passenger seat belts and they dont move... Now I just take them out. extend. and plug in. Saves me a lot of time (espeically when I ride to a location(like today) with the subject) I want to set-up as quick as I can so I don't get the subject out of the mood or impatient.

As far as power...

The Beauty Dish(main) was set at 1/2. The background (flag) light was at 1/4 and same to the "hair" light(not really a hair light..) I need the boom arm, or else my stand shows up in the photo

I was under the impression to make the BD work you need to be close to your object??? Or else its just like an umbrella?

I like it, but I wonder if maybe having the flag in the background a little brighter might have worked? I probably would have cropped the pallets he's standing on too.

great lighting, but I think it's just a 1/2-full stop underexposed.

Can you tell me where I can find the software you used to show your lighting setup. I went to www.kevinkertz.com (external link) but nothing there. Thanks

I'm totally agreeing. There is a distinct lack of contrast, and the entire photo is flat. A half-stop general bump in exposure would be great, plus a 1/4 + stop on the hair light, a 1/4 + stop on the background light would really pull this out from the dark. You could always fix it post-production with a curves tweak, but then what would you learn from that? =)
