Great little camera. This is the camera that got me into photography and inspired me to buy even more expensive stuff :). It can be used as a simple point and shoot if you want. But it also has a full array of manual controls that will allow you to experiment with more advanced techniques. The long zoom, image stabilizer, and the vari-angled screen are some of my favorite aspects of it. Unfortunately, I haven't touched it in about 1/2 year because of my newer equipment. But there have been times when I wished I had it. Because of the long zoom and because some places have a fear of slr cameras.

I have to agree with Stefan, the S2 is a great little camera if you want a step up from the A10. It is a bit hard to get used to at first and there are definately focus issues, which is more the user than the camera itself. The quality of picture is very good for a 5 megapix, and the long zoom is very handy. This camera has been very popular on this forum. You will be able to go back and get a lot of information. There are numerous support sites too. From fully auto to manual you will learn a lot about photography from this camera.

I currently use the S2 and I love it. Experiement with it and you'll love it, specially the extra zoom that you have with it. Lots of people here use it with extremely nice results.

I love mine too. I can do some amazing things with it. This weekend the Flower and Garden Festival starts at Epcot, I can't wait to photograph it. Cheers!

I've had my S2 for almost 2 years now and I love it. The pictures come out great and it has a ton of options for a P&S camera. It gets great pictures just snapping in auto mode, and then allows you to experiment if you want to work in manual modes. I've learned a lot from it and love it.

I've had many years of expearence with 35 MM film cameras, but I have to tell you, I love my S2! I have many nice 8X10 photos on my wall that were made with this camera. If you use it for what it was intended, and don't pretend it's an SLR, you will get great results from it.

The s2 was my upgarde from a A510, a large improvement overall.
Canons consistent menu structure made the transition easy and the feature set great.
I was particularly impressed with the Image stabilisation.

Gary, what's your experience like using the teleconverter? This is the TC-DC58B right?

Silas, yes it's the TC-DC58B, and I really like the lens a lot. It's light and and can be handheld in many situations. Light fall off at edges is very little. And it will reach out and touch someone too! Though I'm not a great wildlife photograoher, below is a sample of a bird that I could not have reached without the teleconverter. Camera was hand held.

Thanks beeGjay. I'm sure you will do just fine with your S3 and Sony teleconverter. I have heard and read some good reports on that lens.
