Hi Guys,

Would you lps look at this pic as it came out of the camera and tell me if this vingetting is normal on Canon 24-70 L? Settings: F 2.8, Shutter: 1/4000 @ 70mm. Thank you so much.

Did you use a filter? I actually never experience(d) vignetting, or light fall off, on my 24-70L on FF.

However, I think that adds to that photo.

Techincally it's light fall-off, not vignetting (although they commonly are used interchangeably on forums). But considering you're shooting on FF and wide open, it looks about right for that lens. Stop down to f4 and I am sure you'll see it dissipate a good bit. Try your own quick test by shooting f2.8 - f11 and see how it improves. Then you'll know how your particular lens performs.

I agree with Ronald, it adds to this photo, a kind of frame

LOL. So now I get it (Dave will love this):

Complaint #1: My 3rd party lens has light fall off!
POTN Reply: Yeah, that lens isn't that good, get an L.

Complaint #2: My L has light fall off!
POTN Reply: Yeah, it's great, it adds to the photo and creates a nice frame.

:D :D   :D [I'm having fun with you guys, so don't get mad.]

Yep.....that looks like a 5D to me.........LOL.

But don't worry .....it's the lens, not the camera..........doesn't that make you feel better. Oh and don't worry, you can take it out in PS. Yea and it's "light falloff" not vingetting ......so that should really make it OK.

Can you tell this is my favorite subject...............to make fun of......LMAO. I love to hear all the reasons for this......the math, the ways to get rid of it, it's not that bad.....bla, bla, bla.

Fact is, regardless of the cause this is what a 5D does with any wide angles opened beyond f5.6......maybe f8, or any fast lenses above 5.6. Yes it's normal, and Canon thanks God every day that it just so happens to look good in "most" shots because if the effect was reversed (light edges) they would have sold about 4 of these camera's. Personally this is why I returned the camera, If I want the stacked filter look I'll add it myself

.............5 pages ......LOL

7D ......waiting on the 5D3
