The light is wonderful. I particularly like No 2. No 1 would be fabulous but has a real left to right slant, which may be what you intended but it does not work for me.

The slant was intentional. Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed the pics.

I love places like this. Any more locations like this, and I'm going to make you start carrying me around in your camera bag. ;) The first shot, I get the slant. To me, it makes the whole building feel organic, like it's on the side of a hill. The 5th shot was my favorite. I love backlit silhouettes. This building is really a memory of it's former self, and I think you've captured that feeling in #5. Overall, loved all these pics. Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful location and time of day, but the only one here that works for me is the last one. It makes me think about those stairs and the crumbling etc. etc. and it's properly exposed, whereas in the others you haven't really expose the building/structure properly, which should be what this is about. The exposure is on the background or foreground which I really don't care about as the building is the subject, it's what I want to see/know about. The shadows and background (particularly at this time of day) should serve to enhance that, not be the point of these photos.

My take on these is that you are trying to be "artistic" but it's not working, at least for me. For the most part I hate intentionally tilted photos (in a few rare cases it works). If you are trying to be artistic, I'd say focus in closer and capture smaller details, shadows and stones. If you are trying to capture the structure itself (with the exception of the last) these are not working.

I think #2 has the most potential, but the exposure range is so wide that something has to give, (or you have to post-process).

Hope this helps,
KAC

I also like #2 best and agree that the slant does not work in #1 as it does in #3.

It's a shame that the colours in the last one are washed out.

I disagree - silhouettes can be very effective here and I think it's worked really well.
