Too sharp???

No, looks fine on my monitor - sharpness wise. It does have a bit of a wahed out cast thought - it looks like you brightened or lowered contrast to pick up black detail like around the male's eye.

Sharpness is so dependent upon the size (resolution) of the virtual image. Remember, we are looking at an 800 x 533 pixel image - not even up to the resolution of my little Nikon Coolpix 775 with its 2 megapixels.

In order to make a critical evaluation of your image, one needs either the original image (before sizing it for posting here) or a suitable fragment of the image in the form of a full detail, 100% crop.

I think sharpening is all about the target image size. If you're going to post the image on a web site at (say) 800x533 or 900x600 or 1200x800, then you resize it to those dimensions and then sharpen as appropriate. If you're going to print it large, you keep it at the original dimensions (say around 3600x2400 if you have an 8Mp camera) and sharpen as appropriate. If you want to do both, then you create two versions and sharpen each separately.

So Bob's comment about needing to see a 100% crop is only relevant if you're intending to make a large print - and then we should be judging whether the 3600x2400 version is sharp, not the 800x533 version.

Sharpness likes fine to me but would say check levels and tweak with curves to make it pop.

I can see it now. I think the sharpness is OK, though it's all a bit moot when the bird on the left is OOF.

I agree with StewartR - sharpness is good to me but the bird on the left is oof.
