Here are a couple ring shots from a wedding I did this weekend. The sister of the Bride wanted these first for an album/scrapbook she was doing for her sister. Please let me know what you think. I'll post the actual wedding shots once I process them.

Question...... I shot the wedding using a 70 - 200 f4 L on a 300D and the Tamron 17-55 f2.8 on the 20D. I had the ISO set to 1600 and 3200 respectively. On the 20D I used the 580 flash. The pictures seem to be exposed decently enough, but the noise is over-whelming. Does anyone else seem to have this problem? I always thought the 20D was pretty good when it came to noise. The pictures are salvagable, but I wish I didn't have to deal with the noise. Can anyone help?

I'm not too crazy about #1, the rings with the shoes & flowers seems to be a bit busy to me. I do like #2 & #3. Do you mean the actual sound noise from the camera or the digital noise in the pictures?

3200 is noisy even on a 5D - you can use it, but best avoided. If you have to shoot at 3200 try to get your exposure correct.

Thanks for the comments Tatboats. #1 was for the sister of the bride. Not really a ringshot, but since it included the rings in the picture I thought I'd post it.

Wedding Shooter - thanks as well. It seems I've shot with 3200 before and it wasn't that noisy, but maybe I was thinking of 1600. The exposures seem pretty good, but very noisy. I think I'll take yoiur advice and avoid it all together next time.

My favorite is #3. The rings seem to be interacting as if they are "in love" rather than just side by side.

Thanks. I think I like this one the best as well. The couple gave an explanation of the history of the Ruby and how it was the jewel of kings and how they were making God the King of their lives. I think #3 shows the Ruby the best.

Thanks again.

If noise is a problem and you still must shoot at ISO 3200, I use a Photoshop Plugin called "Noise Ninja". It works wonders. Give it a try I believe they have a trial version.

Thanks Steve, I didn't notice the shadows until you mentioned them. You're right... they're driving me crazy now.

Bcap.. Thanks... I've been using Neat Image, similar to Noise Ninja. It's just that sometimes depending on the severity of the noise it seems to soften to photos a little too much for my taste. I haven't run them through Neat Image yet, but I was just wondering if others have the problem. I think I'll go no higher than 1600 and shoot with a wider aperture from now on. Thanks for the information.
